 Earl Bentz (founder and current president of Triton Boats) founded Stratos Boats in 1983 after working several years in R&D at Hydra-Sports Boats. Stratos excelled under Bentz into the 90s, and then later into this century under the leadership of Gary Clouse (now owner of Phoenix Bass Boats). In January of 2001, Stratos was acquired by Genmar Holdings along with Javelin Boats. While this signaled the end for Javelin, Stratos has continued strong out of its Murfreesboro, TN facility.
